Im a 22 year old designer from Essex, currently working as a temp for Asset Graphics in London. I have recently graduated from The University of South Wales in Newport, Gaining a BA (hons) Graphic Design degree. I draw my inspiration from anything and everything. It is my strong belief that anything around us , if approached correctly with an open mind can be used as an asset to all design, even the likes of vegetables, badgers, and far more importantly, custard.
As far design is concerned i know what I like, I know what I find inspirational, and i try to express this in whatever I do. I try to combine my life as a designer with what i do in my spare time and often find that ideas for projects and designs materialise in the least likely of places.
I have always had passion for good design, and since the age of 13 I have known that ultimately I would become a graphic designer. Trying to pinpoint the defining factor which has lead me down this path is easy. I have always had an obsession with trying to make things look better.
Bad design is an irritation to me, but unfortunately it is everywhere. I try to surround myself with things and people that i find inspirational. I like books, but only the ones without long paragraphs. Despite this, I love text.
Typography has been my main motivation to become a designer over the past three years. It rocks my world. Before I started university I had limited knowledge of typography, looking back now, It amazes me I even managed to get on a graphic design degree programme with such a disregard to the art as design tool.
Unfortunately I am now cursed. Everything i look at i find myself analysing typography. Even my mother can now ( and regulalry does for my benifit) identify Helvetica. My ideal world is black white and sans serif. Its all become a little bit to much.
